BOXING TKO2020
Lifestyle Fashion Photography Advertising Campaign
It had been way too long since we’d collaborated with some of our favorite creatives—both familiar faces and new ones—on a self-produced test shoot.
This project was the perfect excuse to get together, make something fresh for everyone’s portfolios, and stretch our creative muscles. No client, no budget—just good people, good vibes, and a chance to build relationships, strengthen teamwork, and push each other creatively.
We came up with the concept together, and from there, Natalie pulled together the right crew in the right place at just the right time. Our goal was to create a cinematic streetwear-meets-sportswear campaign, leaning into a moody, dramatic visual style that gave everyone space to shine.
A Note for the Photo Nerds (Hi, it’s Jason)
Let’s talk lenses. This isn’t a sponsored post—just a deep dive for anyone curious.
Have you heard of anamorphic lenses? They’ve been used in filmmaking for decades and have a very distinct, cinematic look. Traditionally, they’re rare, pricey, and fully manual. But now a company called Sirui has made them more accessible—with lenses that mount directly to Sony’s E-mount system.
Technically, these are crop-sensor lenses, and I was shooting on a full-frame camera. I could have set the camera to APS-C mode, but I chose not to. I liked the vignetting, the rounded edges, and the more dramatic framing that came from shooting “the wrong way.”
To my knowledge, I haven’t seen anamorphic lenses used in still photography like this—and honestly, I love the results.
Below is the image as it is captured in camera. The lens has a 1.33 stretch factor which means the width of landscape is stretched by a multiple of 1.33.
