A nonprofit improving Atlanta Public Schools

As you know, we love working with local nonprofits and sharing their stories with our creative community. This week we would like to tell you about Purpose Built Schools.

Purpose Built Schools, in partnership with Atlanta Public Schools (APS), provides management services for underperforming schools. Purpose Built Schools works to deliver outstanding results for students and the surrounding communities through high-quality instruction, intentional enrichment opportunities, and a strategic approach to serving families’ needs beyond the school walls.

Purpose Built Schools has all the authority, independence, and flexibility of a charter school, but each school remains a traditional neighborhood school with a defined attendance zone like every other APS school. By combining the best of traditional public schools with the best of charter schools, Purpose Built Schools offers a proven program designed to put all students on a trajectory for success through college and in their careers.

We were asked to photograph a few of these schools and enjoyed getting to interact with the kids and tell their stories.

Let us know what you think of the images and comment your favorite ATL nonprofit!

While many of our photoshoots are big productions with external lighting, post work like editing, and talent posed for a certain shot, we enjoy getting to capture the raw essence of an incredible place like a Purpose Built School.

As parents ourselves, we know that education is an important decision and an important investment. If you’re interested in learning more about this organization or you want to support their mission to turn around failing schools and put all children on a trajectory for success, check them out!
